All students who wish to attend EMSA must submit our EMSA Official Student Application.
You must complete this application even if you submitted a pre-enrollment form already. You can also fill out the application on your phone or tablet by downloading the SchoolMint App:
The EMSA application form asks basic questions about the student and guardian, such as names, ages, and addresses. If you need help with the online form or need a paper application, please email or message EMSA and we’ll be happy to assist you.

EMSA has selected it Founding Principal! We will be introducing our new school leader in January. Watch for open house and meet & greet events coming soon!
EMSA’s campus is nestled within an Illinois Nature Preserve. EMSA students will have daily access to an outdoor laboratory of rare ecosystems — forested fens and their endangered species — as well as typical food webs of the midwest. It is not unusual to spy a grazing deer or a circling Cooper’s hawk from classroom windows. Meaningful interaction with nature is known to reduce depression and anxiety, and increase focus and healthy relationships for young students. EMSA’s school building is on track to be student-ready in May! Sorry, students, you will have to wait until August to attend school! Charter Commissioner Feinberg noted that this school is the best starting facility he has seen for a charter school.
All of the EMSA Design Team members who attended the EL Education National Conference in Chicago in October came away inspired and energized to bring this phenomenal educational experience to EMSA students! Some participated in mini Learning Expeditions at the Tribune Tower (studying geology!) or at Grant Park (also geology!). EMSA’s EL Education model will challenge students to do more than they think possible. For starters, they will study science through hands-on investigations — everyday! The EL Education model has proven successful in closing achievement gaps and instilling a love for learning. To find out more, go to eleducation.org.
