2018/2019 Registration

After the lottery on April 11, 2018, families will be notified if their child has been offered a seat for the 2018-2019 school year or if they have been placed on the waitlist.

If your student has received an offer, you will be receiving a letter and email with the information below:


At EMSA, we believe that students and teachers will reach their highest potential through active exploratory learning and social responsibility. Students will experience the WOW and WONDER of an engaging curriculum and develop our four habits of scholarship: courage, creativity, respect, and responsibility, that will mold our young learners into active contributors to a better world. I am proud to welcome your child to our school and cannot wait to meet you and your family in the upcoming months.

In order to officially enroll your student, you must complete the steps listed below.

STEP ONE    Accept the offered seat by April 20, 2018.
To do this, simply go to http://elginmathandscience.schoolmint.net/ to access your account or download the SchoolMint app for your smart phone. If you need assistance, please call: (630) 254-4596.

STEP TWO   Complete Phase One of Enrollment by May 1, 2018.
Complete the enrollment process at home or on your phone through SchoolMint’s online format or attend an Enrollment Assistance Session. This includes uploading photos of the documents described below.

We have two enrollment assistance sessions where you can complete, with help as necessary, all of the online forms to enroll your child at Elgin Math and Science Academy. Both enrollment opportunities will be held at the computer lab in the Gail Borden Library.

Enrollment Assistance Session 1: Thursday, April 26 from 4:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.
Enrollment Assistance Session 2:  Saturday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

During the Enrollment Assistance Sessions, we will have volunteers to help you with the online enrollment process. You will need to bring the following items with you to the library.


2 Proofs of Residency —
Proof 1: Please provide ONE photo from the below list

  • Most recent property tax bill and proof of payment,
    e.g., canceled check or Form 1098                
  • Mortgage papers
  • Signed and dated lease and proof of last month’s payment,
    e.g., canceled check or receipts  
  • Letter from manager and proof of last month’s payment,
    e.g., canceled check or receipt

Proof 2: Please provide ONE photo from the below list

  • Driver’s license
  • Vehicle registration
  • Voter registration
  • Current cable television and/or credit card bill
  • Current public aid card with the current address
  • Current homeowners/renter’s insurance policy and premium payment receipt
  • Most recent cable, gas, telephone, electric, and/or water bill
  • Matricula Card

Non-refundable Activity Fee payment of $60.00 —
You may pay by Cash, Check, or Credit Card

  • Pay online with SchoolMint.
  • Make checks payable to: EMSA, with your student’s name on the memo line. If you choose to mail in your Activity Fee, please have it postmarked by April 24th.
  • Mail to:  Elgin Math and Science Academy, 17 Douglas Ave., Elgin IL, 60120.

You may complete phase one of enrollment on your own by accessing your SchoolMint account online or on your phone through the SchoolMint App. For additional instructions, please visit: http://www.ElginMathAndScience.org. Please take pictures and upload the 2 proofs of residency bulleted above and pay the activity fee in full through your SchoolMint account. Phase one of enrollment needs to be completed in its entirety by the registration deadline: May 1, 2018.

By completing Phase One of enrollment, you will officially enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year. If you need assistance, please call: (630) 254-4596.

After you have completed Phase 1 of registration on SchoolMint, you will need to begin gathering information and documents for Phase 2 of registration to finish enrolling your student. This Phase of Registration will take place in person at EMSA. Stop by at any time during these designated registration days!

Thursday, July 26:  NOON – 7pm

An ORIGINAL, certified copy of your student’s birth certificate.
This birth certificate may be obtained from the County in which your child was born. If you do not have a certified copy of your student’s birth certificate, please be sure to obtain one prior to July 27. A staff member will need to see the certificate and make a copy on site to put in your student’s file.

Recent Physical
All students entering EMSA in our first year are required to have a current physical examination completed on the approved Illinois Department of Public Health Form provided by your child’s physician. A current physical is one that was completed within one year of August 2018. A sports physical does not meet this requirement.

The eye exam is required for all students entering Kindergarten or students enrolling for the first time in an Illinois school.

Optional FREE dental screenings will be available at EMSA. The dental exam is required for all students entering Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grade students.

Registration Fee Payment: $145.00*
Student Registration Fees (NOT the $60.00 activity fee) will be collected during the designated registration days and time. We will accept Cash, Check, Money Order or Credit. If you have questions concerning your student’s registration fee, please contact us by phone: (630) 254-4596.

After School Care at EMSA with the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin
For an annual fee of $25.00 per student, the Boys and Girls Club will provide 3.5 hours of programming for our students after school every day at EMSA. http://www.bgcelgin.org/

Families must register in person at the BGCE Clubhouse on 355 Dundee Avenue, Elgin, IL 60120. Ph# (847)-608-5017.

Summer Clubhouse hours: 8:00am – 7:00pm, Monday – Friday.


Free or Reduced Lunch Form
The Department of Education through the National School Lunch Program offers free and reduced price breakfast and lunches to students who qualify based on family income. The free and reduced price meal program guidelines will also be used to determine eligibility for a student fees waiver*.
